HOTEL PLAYAFELS

Hotel Playafels is a seductive 4-star boutique hotel located on the beachfront in Castelldefels. The property stands out from the others as it can be seen from the beach boardwalk in a 5 km long sheet of fine sand, just 18 km south of Barcelona city. The hotel has been completely renovated in 2020, along with their restaurant, Embarcadero, taking guests on a trip through local recipes and succulent dishes. Unwind in a place created for your pace and comfort, allowing you to indulge in true Mediterranean style.

OUR STORY

We were looking to disconnect, and reconnect as a family together for 4 days. The timing was perfect as Hotel Playafels has been recently refurbished, and the weather was nearly summer temperatures in early spring. We booked the Sea View Executive room, which we can’t recommend highly enough. Think of sightings of people playing volleyball on the beach from early hours of the morning until dusk, families gathering for picnics, with surfers and boats in the backdrop, this is what can be expected.

Playafels Hotel has 5 types of rooms, 48 in total, decorated in minimalist style and all equipped with Wi-Fi, bathroom, coffee maker, kettle, safe and minibar. There is a swimming pool with numerous sun loungers in the outdoor space, with access to the beach.

The Embarcadero Restaurant is opposite to the hotel reception area. The restaurant pays tribute to the pier that was inaugurated on the beach in 1974, so you get a first-hand experience of a seafaring atmosphere. Blue zigzags mark the ceilings with low hanging basket pendant lights added over the tables. The large windows facing the sea are in the shape of a horseshoe, bringing in more light into the indoor space. The restaurant also has a large outdoor space adjacent to the building, for eating and drinking under the sun. Order their speciality, paella, from the hands of chef Sergi Cócera.

If you need to venture outside the hotel for the days you are done pampering yourself, you can head over to the dozens of beach bars called chiringuitos. We recommend having a bite at Chiringuito Tibu-Ron, just opposite Tibu-Ron Beach Club, a place that gets packed quickly around lunchtime. There are many water activities in the area, such as stand-up paddleboarding, windsurf, kitesurf, and kayaking. Also, we highly recommend taking a bike or scooter with you as the beach boardwalk seems almost endless and allows for enough space for these kind of activities.
