OUR STORY

OUR STORY

When we arrived at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, our driver Wassim was already waiting outside the terminal. After a quick introduction, he loaded our bags and drove us about twenty minutes to the Kouba district, where our hotel sat above the bustling city. We passed through lively streets, catching our first glimpses of Algiers’ mix of modern buildings, hillside neighbourhoods, and views stretching toward the Bay of Algiers.

Soon we arrived at Lamaraz Arts Hotel, a contemporary and elegant retreat perched above the capital — a city that gives us good reason to keep exploring Algeria, from its ancient coast at Tipasa to the energy of its streets below. The hotel is known for its artistic atmosphere, with modern design elements and artwork displayed throughout the lobby and public spaces. From its elevated position, the property offers sweeping views over the city and the shimmering Bay of Algiers.

Our suite was spacious, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed. Large windows filled the room with natural light, while modern comforts including a minibar, coffee maker, comfortable seating area, and fast Wi-Fi — made it easy to settle in. The bathroom was particularly impressive, featuring a large bathtub with a walk-in shower option and sleek marble finishes. Looking out from the window, we could see the city stretching toward the coastline, white buildings cascading down the hills toward the sea.

That evening, we headed up to Restaurant La Baie on the seventh floor, one of the hotel’s highlights. The panoramic views over the Bay of Algiers were spectacular, especially as the sun began to set. The restaurant blends Algerian, French, and Mediterranean influences, with a menu focused on fresh ingredients and elegant presentation. We enjoyed a refined dinner before stepping onto the terrace, where we sipped mocktails as the city lights gradually sparkled across the hills and waterfront.

One of the standout features of the hotel is the spa — a hidden sanctuary after a day of exploring the city. The wellness area includes a sauna, hot tub, Turkish hammam, and a range of massage treatments. What makes the experience particularly special is that the facilities are reserved privately, ideal for couples or families seeking a quiet moment away. Reservations are required in advance, but once inside, the calm atmosphere makes it easy to unwind completely.

Overall, the hotel offered a fine balance between comfort, style, and tranquillity — an excellent base for discovering Algiers while still enjoying a peaceful escape above it.
