Our Top Boutique Family-Friendly Hotels in Europe

Little ones have their personalities, traits, preferences and sense of timing. For us, a parent-friendly hotel is a happy hub with activities we can all enjoy. Gastronomy, culture and activities are important to us when travelling. We make sure our energetic daughter has a space to play, that there are child-friendly menus when dining out, and that my partner and I have things that excite us. The more we go on staycations and venture further afield, the better we get at understanding our needs as a family.

Octant Vila Monte, Portugal

The majestic landscape at Octant Vila Monte is beautiful and ideal for picnics, games, and walks. The tranquil setting, paired with the most delicious eco cuisine, presents a romantic set. We visited when we were travelling with a one-year-old. We were delighted with the spacious suite, child-friendly pool and general adaptation to our needs. The most lovely service too!

Minos Beach Art Hotel, Crete, Greece

Minos Beach Art hotel is a chic resort right by Mirabello Bay, in Crete, making it a secluded and ideal stay for those with little ones. You’ll find tennis courts, swimming pools, a games room and more here. There are several restaurants based on the vibe you’re after. Visit the olive oil farm nearby, rent the bikes, and explore the area. Great for all ages and worth renting a car.

Dolce Sitges, Barcelona, Spain

Dolce Sitges ticks all the boxes for us because there’s something for all of us. The hotel has a spa (mum), gym (dad) and pool (little one). In fact, there are several pools to take advantage of, and the indoor pool has set hours for children. Active ones can partake in golf, table tennis or simply run to the coast. We love dining at the Terrassa La Punta restaurant in the early evening after a day in the quaint seaside town. It’s also a strategic location for visiting wineries like Cavas Cordorniu and Sumaroca.

Seventy Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain

This Barcelona city hotel is a whole vibe. The spiral staircase upon entry, spa, outdoor pool and Mediterranean-style patio for dining alfresco, are some of our favourite things about Seventy Barcelona. The hotel often hosts live music on the weekends, and activities such as cocktail masterclasses. We love how there are different spaces to suit us all. Our little one loves chilling out with a book by the white gallery, whereas my partner and I tend to rush to the spa. On sunny days a mid-afternoon is a good pastime for us all. It is a stylish urban abode well-catered to families, discreetly nestled in the centre.

Casa Cacao Girona, Spain

What really makes this small boutique hotel in Girona special is the chocolate theme. Founded by Jordi Roca, this amazing little hotel in Girona city has an incredible chocolate-infused breakfast, café and chocolatier workspace. Perfect for curious little chocolate enthusiasts. Rooms are modern, open and elegant—ideal for a short stay before heading to Costa Brava.

Masseria Potenti, Puglia, Italy

If you’re after somewhere dreamy, relaxed and rustic, Masseria Potenti in Puglia is the place to go. It is ridiculously chic, with just the right amount of practicality. The family that runs this country estate are phenomenal and will cater to your needs. This includes food, excursions and more. Rooms are spacious, and plenty of outdoor and indoor spaces keep families occupied. We enjoyed pool days and date nights here.
