MASSERIA POTENTI
Immerse in Apulian culture and disconnect from it all at the enchanting and grandeur of Masseria Potenti. The incredible property sprawls across 130 hectares and is a mecca of rustic interior design, charm and beauty. With a pool, restaurant, huge pockets of spaces, hidden gardens and loungers dotted around, you have more than enough go to areas for unwinding. The whitewashed walls, cactus lined corners, palms galore all juxtaposed with the bluest of skies, makes this one of ¨the¨ places to stay when in Puglia.
This stylish sixteenth century fortified farmhouse and once was a country house is representative of the region of Puglia. This gem was set up by the very humble Maria Grazia, who when you will find when you look up the phrase "hostess with the mostess". She epitomises everything that a host should be, attentive, approachable, open and just good fun. In 1996 she decided to leave her job of being a lawyer to run wild and free with her creative visions and thus Masseria Potenti was born. It is a great family run effort with her daughter Chiara running the social media & communications, her husband the accounts and other members are involved with making the Masseria what it is today. Every nook and cranny has a touch that has been executed by Maria, she assists with the styling of weddings and is quite the cook too. We had the pleasure of breaking bread at the table several times with her, as did other guests and she always greets guests when on site. It is this presence that contributes to that wonderful homely feel. We even got to meet her very sweet mother, and felt like we were staying with friends.
OUR STORY
No two rooms are the same at Masseria Potenti. There is a selection of rooms starting from standard rooms for 2 people, suites for 2-4 people with two rooms, one with the queen bed and the other one with 2 beds for the children and a superior suite for 2-4 people which has two rooms, one with the queen bed and the other one with 2 beds for the children and a private lush garden (70sqm). For those that require more independent living, there are 2 apartments available, which are located in the oldest and most ancient part of the Masseria. Both apartments feature two rooms, a private garden and a kitchenette.
You'll find more than enough space to hang out with you not only having private pockets of spaces but a swimming pool and corners with benches and stools for you to hang out. No area has not had some magic worked on, with some of the gardens having Maria's incredible interior design touch. Even when you're poolside you'll find rustic watering cans spewing with dried blooms lining the thatched room of the apartments nearby.
They are taking things further by introducing a yoga retreat, spa and opening a museum to display their production of wine and oils, that have all been made at Masseria Potenti and follows the 0 km philosophy. They already use their beautiful grounds for weddings and special events and hold photography workshops and cooking classes. With the endless lines of olive trees and luscious green landscapes surrounding the magnificent Masseria, it is easy to understand why this is also a place for non-guests too.
