Set amid the sun-drenched plains of Empordà, Le Mas Sant Joan is a beautifully restored 15th-century masia (Catalan country house) where rustic elegance meets Mediterranean ease. Just minutes from the beaches of the Costa Brava and 30 minutes from Girona, this Châteauform’s retreat invites slow mornings by the pool, leisurely bike rides through olive groves, and long, starlit dinners in the garden. With its stone walls, cypress-lined paths, and sea-kissed breezes, it’s a tranquil escape for couples, families and business travellers seeking the authentic rhythm of Catalonia’s countryside.
OUR STORY
We arrived at Le Mas Sant Joan for a two-day work retreat, but it quickly felt like a sun-soaked escape we didn’t want to end. Nestled in the flat, golden plains of Empordà and just minutes from the Costa Brava, the masia blends rustic charm with understated luxury: stone walls, cypress-lined paths, and a serene garden framed by the distant sea.
Every day began with homemade delights such as maracuyá and lemon cakes, Greek yogurt and a buffet style selection of fruits and vegetables. Lunches included perfectly cooked hake and other local white fish, sometimes we had meat. Dinners were equally memorable, with creamy asparagus soup and tender veal served under the open sky. Between meals, we biked through olive groves, explored nearby beaches at L’Escala, and ended one evening enchanted by karaoke under the stars.
What was meant to be a work retreat turned into a two-day celebration of good food, sun, and the relaxed rhythm of Catalonia. Le Mas Sant Joan isn’t just a venue, it’s a place that lingers in memory long after you leave.
