Octant Vila Monte can quickly end up in a roundup for being one of Portugal’s best boho-styled hotels. With its bright-coloured interiors by Vera Iachia and fragrant-scented herbs cherishing the property, you will be drawn in immediately when you enter the entrance to the lobby. The vast space around the hotel’s premises allows you to explore everything from the locally sourced fruits in their gardens to their acres of citrus trees. You can leave your straw hats and beach towels at home for once, as Octant Vila Monte has it ready for you in your room.
OUR STORY
Octant Vila Monte is situated in the middle of an elegant garden estate, in the quiet town of Moncaparacho. Fifty-five rooms and suites are neatly and elegantly plotted along the nine hectares of land with plenty of outdoor amenities: 2 swimming pools (the family pool includes a snack bar and the pool is actually heated if necessary), open-air cinema and tennis court in the vicinity. Beautiful gardens including; aromatic plants, olive groves and orchards, and a koi pond with terrapins, fishes and frogs, makes staying at the eco conscious hotel a relaxing stay. Nature is a consistent thread throughout the hotel, always intertwined with just the right decree of modern design.
What assemble all these spaces is the authenticity, the simplicity of the Algarve architecture with its strong Arabic influence with idyllic horse shoe entrances and bleach-white walls in addition to local crafts. Vila Monte Farm House has stayed true to the Algarve’s artisanal roots with their Lobby Market. Here you can hand-pick the locally sourced food grown on-site, shop from the gift shop and take a piece of the Algarve back home.
We looked forward to breakfast every morning. Guests will find homemade cakes and delicious jams, a selection of bread, and many locally sourced fruits. The morning spread is more like an elegant feast, and the breakfast room itself is incredibly inviting, with basket lights, high ceilings and a glorious view of the neighbouring land and town in the distance. You can complement the abundance of healthy options and maintain a healthy lifestyle with a yoga session on the grass by the tennis court or work a sweat in their indoor gym (24-hour availability). Alternatively, take the time to take care of yourself and schedule a massage. The hotel has a spa treatment menu if you wish to pamper yourself.
We ate at the À Terra restaurant several times. It’s a beautiful setting to sit back, enjoy a drink, and watch the hustle and bustle of the kitchen staff work at their mastery. Ingredients used in the restaurants are locally sourced (some grown on-site) and organic. We recommend asking for their catch of the day. Homely rustic Portuguese cuisine is served, with plenty of dishes to share. After dining out, you can watch a movie (the hotel has a schedule) indoors or outside in a cosy nook under the trees by one of the swimming pools.
