ALMALUSA BAIXA/CHIADO

The Baixa-Chiado neighbourhood of Lisbon has welcomed the opening of this 28-room boutique hotel. The 18th-century rejuvenated building has retro-contemporary décor inspired by the Portuguese aristocracy. AlmaLusa, meaning ‘Portuguese Soul’, is piled high with sentiments and tradition in addition to having over a dozen ‘all things Portuguese’ emblematic of Portugal. The hotel has an exterior terrace near the stately City Hall in the Terreiro do Paço square, a perfect spot in the sun for a drink before a morning stroll near the Tagus riverside.

AlmaLusa boutique hotel is the work of experienced hotelier, Founder and CEO Miguel Simoes de Almeida. Additionally, the Director of Operations, Sofia, loves to help her guests with the best walking routes and day trips from Lisbon. You can count on her cheerful hospitality for tips on a day out in the city.

The hotel has partnerships with various premium Portuguese brands, ensuring its amenities and equipment are of the highest standard. AlmaLusa Hotels are described as “an urban concept with properties located in historic buildings in the city centre. Maintaining the original architecture and introducing atmospheres and interior design ‘Retro-Cool’ style in a modern and functional approach with attention to efficiency and sustainability.”

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

AlmaLusa Baixa/Chiado is located in the historic and most exclusive districts in Lisbon, where you can find the best fashion stores, restaurants, nightlife, stunning monuments, and genuine retail shops. The hotel has over a dozen extra perks and services that cater to guests, from ‘Tour Sunset Sailings’, ‘Old Town Tours’, airport pickups, and more. Designer Giano Gonçalves has skilfully incorporated a Portuguese feel into the hotel, using amenities from Portuguese brands such as Castelbel product textiles and soaps, high-quality bath towels by Lima Mayer, and Colmol beddings and mattresses. He has exquisitely woven the original flagstone floors and antique fireplaces with 21st-century adjustments. The bedrooms and suites have a muted palette of soft brown and gray textures, with showers mixing black slate and white tile flooring.

There are 28 rooms and two residences, including 12 spacious suites. All rooms have high-speed Portugal Telecom Wi-Fi, smart multi-channel TVs, RECO SuperSignal radios, and heating and cooling systems. The suites have Delta coffee machines and tea stations, Vitalis water and microwaves, and a spacious entrance with large-sized closets to fit all your clothes in. The power shower is by Sanindusa, with enough power to turn into a steam room. You can take advantage of the LG air conditioning for the warmer months. Additionally, there is a pillow menu, and the beds all use an anti-allergic duvet from Colmol Spa Premium Mattresses with 100% luxury percale cotton sheets.

“Delfina—A Fine Portuguese Deli” is AlmaLusa’s food and wine concept for all-day al fresco dining. It serves fresh, seasonal, and Portuguese-inspired brasserie-style cuisine in an informal and relaxed atmosphere with fabulous local wines. You can count on Delfina, at any time, for tapas and aperitifs, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
