Old-world glamour and retro charm harmonize in this cocktail bar-cum-hotel concept in the heart of Paris’ rising SoPi neighbourhood. Near the Moulin Rouge in the city’s former Red Light District is a maze of streets hiding natural wine bars, up-and-coming restaurants, and nightclubs. Smack in the heart of this quarter sits the Grand Pigalle Hotel. A lively bar in the hotel lobby, serving signature cocktails and small plates, provides a focal point for this chic hotel.
The Experimental Group imagined the Grand Pigalle Hotel as a “bed and beverage” concept, which opened its doors during Paris’ fashion week in March 2015. Following the success of projects like the Experimental Cocktail Club, Paris’ first and well-loved cocktail bar, and similar bars in New York and London, the Experimental Group wanted to channel their eight years of hospitality experience into an original project.
Styled by designer Dorothée Meilichzon, known for her low-lit, softly chic mixture of Victorian and Art Deco design, the Grand Pigalle has a dark and clubby atmosphere. Meilichzon collaborates frequently with the Experimental Group and runs her Parisian design agency, CHZON.
