AUGUST ANTWERP

In the Green Quarter of Antwerp, August welcomes you into a world where history meets contemporary luxury. Housed in a former Augustinian convent, the property has been beautifully reimagined by renowned Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen. Every detail, from the brick exterior glowing in the sunlight to the bespoke interiors, whispers elegance and tranquillity.

More than a boutique hotel, August is a sanctuary where thoughtful design, lush gardens, and warm hospitality create a haven for rest and rejuvenation. Whether unwinding in the peaceful courtyard or exploring the Antwerp’s vibrant cultural scene, guests will find an experience that feels both refined and restorative.

For those looking to explore beyond Antwerp, the city’s central location makes it easy to discover more of Belgium. Less than an hour away, Ghent offers a different perspective on Flemish culture, with its canals, medieval architecture, and thriving creative scene. Discover more about its unique appeal in our Postcards from Ghent feature.

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

From the moment we arrived, August impressed us with its understated charm. The historic façade, with its timeless brickwork, felt like a glimpse into the past, while the interiors unfolded into a seamless blend of heritage and modernity. Our room, bathed in natural light from large windows, offered a calming retreat with its smart layout and inviting touches.

Breakfast here is a ritual in itself. Forgoing the predictable, the seasonal menu is full of surprises, each dish crafted with locally sourced ingredients. We lingered on the heated garden terrace, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and savouring every bite. There’s a lovely community vibe with the hotel set within a residential area. During our stay we’d overhear children playing, would see locals running errands, and people on their bikes.

The wellness area is a treasure. Although we didn’t have time for treatments, its thoughtful design was clear. The hammam, sauna, and outdoor swimming pond were serene spaces that seemed made for pure relaxation. Venturing beyond the hotel, we explored Antwerp by bike, wandering through Zurenborg’s exquisite Art Nouveau streets and the creative hub at PAKT.
