They say that breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. It’s no surprise that hotels are “upping” their breakfast spread more and more these days. The standard continental breakfast with cereals, teas, cheeses and cold cuts of meats still exists, but there is a whole new layer these days. We’ve listed some of our favourite hotels for breakfast whilst travelling. Read on to find out why.
Hotel Posada Terra Santa, Palma de Mallorca
This boutique hotel in Palma de Mallorca has an intimate breakfast room, where you’ll find a buffet selection in addition to eggs and extras made to order. What makes this place so fantastic for breakfast are the local ingredients. Expect homegrown juicy tomatoes, one Mallorcan charcuterie that’ll have you asking for more, artisan bread, pastries and more. It is so good that even when we haven’t stayed at the hotel, we have reserved a spot!
Dar Roumana, Fez
The breakfast at Dar Roumana is simple yet delicious. Fez is known for being a marvellously slow and traditional city, continuously nodding to previous customs and behaviours, which is reflected in the culture and food. Guests can have homemade bread with a selection of local jams and cheeses. You can also enjoy eggs of your choice at no additional cost, and this is all washed down with tea/coffee, juices, and finely rounded off with a sweet dish made by the in-house cook.
Dear Hotel Madrid – Madrid
The breakfast at Dear Hotel on Gran Via, Madrid, is most definitely an Instagrammer’s paradise. Located on the 14th floor, it has an incredible panoramic view and a bright and airy space for you to enjoy the day’s first meal. Options include a singular buffet breakfast with juices, artisan bread and charcuterie, seasonal fruits and hot beverages. A daily á la carte menu complements the buffet breakfast: Dear Benedict eggs, eggs rancheros (Monterrey cheese over tortilla), bagel with eggs and more. This breakfast is also available as an in-room service.
Artist Residence, London
Do you like your eggs sunny side up? Or do you, like us, look forward to devouring Cumberland sausages? If yes, the brekkie served at Artist Residence should be on your hit list. The Cambridge Street Kitchen is a standalone business within the same building that serves hotel guests and outsiders. We thoroughly recommend the full, a British setup with portobello mushrooms, a selection of eggs, baked beans and black pudding. Healthy options such as avocado on toasted bread, seasonal fruit and granola can also be enjoyed at this pretty restaurant.
Sant Jaume Design Hotel – Palma de Mallorca
Breakfast is included in the price for those staying at the hotel and you will certainly start the day right after eating here. Sant Jaume Design Hotel provides an elaborate authentic Mallorquín breakfast, with ensaïmadas, pastries, locally sourced charcuteries, and cheese and eggs cooked according to preference. Fresh orange juice and other detox beverages are available upon request. The setting is adorned with pineapples, leafy wallpaper, and prompt service.

Villa Carlotta Taormina – Sicily
If you’re after an unforgettable Sicilian breakfast that is more like a feasting experience, get yourself to Villa Carlotta in Taormina, Sicily. Start the day on the rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the Messina and Mount Etna, with the blue sky as your backdrop. The elegant Sicilian hotel offers an incredible selection of savoury and sweet dishes at the decadent buffet counter, freshly squeezed juices, a selection of bread, cold meats, local cheeses and vegetables. We are fans of the pies. They are incredible, and each day they serve a different one. Guests can also enjoy Sicilian Parmigiana, eggs cooked according to preference and traditional appetising Sicilian pastries.
