MAMA SHELTER LONDON

Mama Shelter London 4.jpg

Mama Shelter London is the result of a former East London warehouse in Hackney given a second life. The hotel evokes flairs of a traditional English cottage with details such as a fireplace in the communal lobby, suspended macramé textile works and dark wooden interiors. Entertainment echoes throughout the property, with Japanese-style karaoke rooms, entertainment nights, an arcade room with a table football and many more fun games!

Although this London property has been making a lot of noise over the years, it is not the first of the Mama Shelter brand. The Mama Shelter concept was created by Serge Trigano and his sons, Benjamin and Jérémie, who have hospitality in their veins thanks to Serge’s father, Gilbert, founder of Club Med. Targetting tech-savvy millenials, the brand has expanded from Los Angeles to Belgrade.

OUR STORY

When we want to base ourselves in East London, we look no further than Mama Shelter London. Situated in between Victoria Park and Shoreditch, it is located in the heart of East London’s seven boroughs. Also, to mention, the area in itself gives it all away as it is nearby some of the city’s finest meetup points for groups and families with activities that is catered for everyone to enjoy.

Upon entering Mama Shelter London and stepping onto their arty rug, you are quickly greeted and welcomed to the check-in desk. Music is pouring in the background from the other end of the vast space, and the dining area is beautifully decorated in colourful cutting-edge pieces of decoration. The hotel is crafted by Parisian design firm Dion & Arles, to provide that edginess slash coziness that we all want when away from home. The property has been blissed-out with 194 bedrooms (including family rooms), Japanese-style karaoke rooms and entertainment for crowds of all ages to enjoy.

We enjoyed the lazy nights, watching the dozens of newly released movies in our rooms with a box of pizza that we picked up from downstairs. As we stayed in a Large Mama Double room, we have the advantage of more space and enjoyed a large size table with diner-style seating to either eat, read a magazine, or simply have a conversation.
