LE TRE STANZE - Florence, Italy

Le Tre Stanze has that lovely bohemian atmosphere, where travellers can immerse themselves amongst the initial renderings of the building. This 3 bedroom B&B is in a 16th-century palazzo, only a few steps away from the Florence Cathedral. Once inside, a splendid staircase with wide steps welcomes you. The entrance ceiling has a glass illuminating the whole interior. All of the common areas are serenaded with vintage furnishings and antique treasures, with the lounge being the real winner with its airy feel giving you the feeling that you are in your own private home. In the warmer months, the communal garden is serenaded with sun loungers and tables.

You will sleep tight with the double-glazed windows in the rooms. Thick shutters and fine cream curtains can be opened or closed, to ensure a good night's sleep.

Soft colours and cutting-edge design are serenaded across the hotel's premises. The only 2 communal spaces are this hallway and a little garden in the back for easy reading.

WHO THEY ARE

Le Tre Stanze is managed by owner Patrick John. It was his sister's desire to open Le Tre Stanze as a bed & breakfast. She wanted the place to be unique and beautifully available to everyone. Their grandfather had bought the place in the 50's and over the years every generation put a bit of restoration to the place. Thanks to the ongoing tradition, you can find genuine vintage treasures and rare crannies around the B&B.

Expect mod cons and Italian designer furnishings. Some Philippe Starck pieces and familiar antiques can be spotted in the eyes of the more sophisticated aficionados.

WHAT THEY OFFER

All 3 bedrooms are quite big, about 45 square metres on average. An all en-suite fully equipped bathroom comes included. Expect 50's and 60's styled decor, with a touch of modern flash. If you wish to have more space, the Junior Suite has separate rooms. We stayed in the La Mansarda (suite), which was our favourite for its panoramic terrace overlooking Florence and Brunelleschi dome. There is a also a large wooden table for reading and a tiny kitchen still conserved from the time the building was first installed.

The lounge area takes you back 50 years ago, with dozens of vintage finds and brilliant homely touches. There is a kitchen for all guests staying to use. Breakfast is not included, but rest assure as there are dozens to choose from just downstairs. If you fancy a morning in, you can bring back your own brekkie in and enjoy it indoors.

Children under the age of 5 can stay for free, which makes it easier for families with little ones. This place is brilliant for a group as you will feel like the house is yours to enjoy on your own.
