Postcards from Villefranche-sur-Mer

Villefranche-sur-Mer is an enchanting seaside town in a busy part of the Côte d’Azur, just east of Nice. The golden sandy beaches draw crowds, and you can also find a selection of charming terrace cafés and restaurants. The Bay of Villefranche is breathtaking and noted as one of the five most beautiful bays in the world. Cap de Nice is on the right, and Cap Ferrat is on the left. The views are glorious and Italianesque, with a hillside that graces down effortlessly to the mouth of the sea, lined with pastel-coloured and emblematic houses.

The old town Vielle Ville houses La Belle Etoile, a charming restaurant in the old town that stole our hearts. Manual and Tamara Dupont took over the restaurant earlier this year and are a delight. The couple serves French cuisine with Mediterranean influences in a cute yet chic establishment, with a small terrace that looks down onto sprawling stairs and neighbouring bars and restaurants. The town has been featured in several films, including “Ronin” with Robert de Niro, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” with Steve Martin, and “Never Say Never Again” starring Sir Sean Connery.
