theAddresses is a collaboration between some of the best Portuguese architectural firms and a boutique guesthouse brand that together makes travel so much more fun for visitors. Each house is serenaded between the old and new builds, wherein the comfort of the guesthouse you will have all of the modern commodities combined with the meticulous composition of the interior. Casa Um, Casa Dois, and Casa Três are their first three properties and ready to receive guests. Award-winning Portuguese architectural firm Atelier Rua has renovated all three houses with a carefully curated interior by creative studio Studio Stories.
Each of the houses tells a story from Portugal’s rich heritage. They honour this by enhancing the original architectural concepts with contemporary influences.
Casa Três
Casa Três is the third and latest guesthouse open under theAddresses umbrella. The property is a converted merchant’s house situated in the furthest eastern point of Portugal’s Algarve, with Spain just across the Guadiana river; Vila Real de Santo Antonio is a truly hidden gem. The guesthouse sits on the banks of the Guadiana River that separates Portugal from Spain and flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
The guesthouse is located in the heart of the city and can host up to 6 people. Upon entering Casa Três, you’ll find the courtyard beatified with an old citrus tree and a glistening outdoor swimming pool. There are three large bedrooms, each an en-suite bathroom and lounge area. The property is well-shaded, with multiple roof terraces, perfect for enjoying a drink outdoors.
On the ground floor, guests can unwind in the spacious and ambient living room and kitchen, punctuated by a vaulted ceiling and served by four balcony openings directly related to the back patio. The finishing materials compose and complement the amplitude of the spaces in their tones and plasticity. The floors, countertops and sinks are in terrazzo, and the cement mosaic is present in all water areas, both in grey.

The area is perfect for venturing around on a bike, therefore at the corner from Casa Três you can rent them for the day. Be sure to hit the pedal and cycle to Mata Nacional da Dunas Litorais pine forests; in less than 15 minutes, these roads will lead you to the deserted beaches south of Vila Real. Going further east, you can take a small ferry across the Guadiana river and visit the historic Spanish town Ayamonte. The town’s speciality is its delicious tapas. Westwards from Casa Três you have the idyllic village Cacela Velha. Known for its expansive sandy beaches and incredible views, it’s a perfect excuse to venture out a little further and even visit Fabric, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
