Hort’s Townhouse

Tucked into Bristol’s historic Old City on Broad Street, Hort’s Townhouse is far more than your typical inn—it’s a former sports bar transformed into an art‑deco boutique gem, where 19 striking rooms perch above a cultured bar and restaurant. After an eight‑month renovation, each space is reimagined with soaring ceilings, bold jewel‑toned fabrics, geometric lighting and original 1920s-inspired details. The lobby’s cocktail corner—a nod to Bristol’s original mixology movement—sets the tone: informal yet thoughtfully edgy, a place where sipping a Hugo Spritz feels effortlessly stylish.

From the moment you step inside, Hort feels elevated: intimate yet spacious, heritage‑rich yet refreshingly modern. It’s a family‑friendly refuge amid the buzz of St Nicholas Market, Harbourside and independent cafés, offering close‑by convenience without dimming the sense of retreat.

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Originally crafted as a community sports bar, Hort retained its local spirit while being lovingly transformed. Upstairs, heritage features—parquet floors, high ceilings and art‑deco flourishes—sit alongside modern comforts like in‑room tech and Bramley toiletries. Rooms range from “Cosy” doubles to “Bigger Boutique” and “Feature Boutique” with sofa‑beds and free‑standing baths.

For families, Hort strikes a delightful balance: spacious enough for comfort yet intimate enough to feel personal. Just steps away lie independent shops and charming cafés, perfect for lazy mornings and leisurely strolls through Bristol’s creative heart.

No visit is complete without sampling their hearty pub lunches — the vegetarian roast alone is reason enough to linger longer. A word of advice: book your table in advance, as locals know this is a gem worth queuing for. Do note there are plenty of stairs, so pack accordingly if you have young children or accessibility needs.
