Murano may not be the most obvious choice when travelling to Venice, which is why we love it. Located several kilometres from central Venice, staying on this island gives you the perfect excuse to travel by water taxi, a scenic and childlike treat. There are two Vaporetto (waterbus) locations on the island, both within 5 minutes of the Murano Palace, making visiting Burano, Torcello, and Venice convenient. Murano is a lovely little spot for a casual stroll and to enjoy a coffee or wine canalside.
If, like us, you like the traditional, you will marvel at the history behind this bed and breakfast gem. Cesare Giordani, the owner, is the son of a master glassmaker on Murano Island. His father even demonstrated the tradition of producing Venetian glass to Queen Elizabeth II in 1961. Continuing his family’s lineage as Venetian merchants, he has a few businesses on Murano, the hotel is the main one, in addition to a couple of shops selling glass. His son runs the B restaurant, a great addition to the island.
