This design hotel has been humbly excusing itself for well over a decade for continually verbalising its genuine pulchritude. The sleek, white façade of the Seeko’o Hotel stands out among all the other buildings near the dockland area of Bordeaux. The 45 rooms and suites make the premises small enough to receive the youthful, polite attention of staff and big enough to supply you with all of the facilities expected of a 4-star stay. Furthermore, the hipness doesn’t get in the way of comfort, as every room is quite on point with contemporary factors and spoilt choices of amenities, with rooms having round beds or king-sized mattresses. The Les Hangars tram stop is on the doorstep, with cultural gems such as the Cap Sciences museum (walking distance) and the Opera National, which are an easy commute away.
In order to create the desired “iceberg” effect, architect Jean-Christophe Masnada, of the Atelier d’architecture King Kong, had the idea to develop a façade made from DuPont™ Corian® solid surface. While the material’s aesthetic and performance qualities made it a clear choice, an exterior cladding process such as this had never been done before. Seeko’o means “iceberg” or “glacier” in Inuit, and from the start, this was an unusual and adventurous concept.
