To say that Altstadt Vienna Hotel is set in a prime location is quite simply an understatement. The 4-star Austrian gem is among local boutique shops, bars and restaurants in Spittelberg, Vienna’s Seventh District. It’s a 5 minutes walk from the Museums Quarter and the ever-popular Ringstrasse and just 10 minutes away from Hofburg Palace. Owner Otto E Wiesenthal, an avid art enthusiast, lovingly infuses selective pieces throughout the Palatian property, making it a one-of-a-kind place in the district. In short, it’s a gallery and hotel in one. Since its opening in 1991, Wiesenthal has worked with local artists, designers and architects to participate in a new style of hospitality.
Sixty-one rooms and suites are individually designed and spread across five floors. Opulence is most definitely a detail, with the Vienesse flair being at its optimum, most notably with the selected art pieces or installations, bespoke lighting, design furniture and more. Main room categories include “Altstadt Classic” and “Altstadt Reloaded”, where designers have illustrated their impression of Viennese life in the room design. Sultry suites with stained oak flooring and damask patterned wallpaper, among other details, have been designed by South Tyrolean architect and designer Matteo Thun. The United Nations Suite is one influenced by peaceful togetherness and comes with its own Whiskey Bar. The successful fashion designer herself designed the Lena Hoschek Suite, which features retro chic.
Two apartments at the hotel can be connected by a single door, converting the space from to 170 sqm.
