Top Rooftops in Barcelona

El Chiringuito at Casa Bonay

Barcelona is famed for its decorative modernism, night scene, Catalan cuisine and that fine balance between the city and the beach. These are just a few of the reasons why visitors flock to this melting pot of happenings. The hotel game has stepped up dramatically, with Barcelona now hosting a fair share of boutique hotels throughout the city - where many are topped off with a rooftop. There is so much to consider when selecting a rooftop; the food, whether or not there is any live music, the type of views, etc. The Majestic, Hotel W and Hotel Alma are classics. However, we have shared some of our favourite rooftops in Barcelona city.

Hotel Pulitzer

Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona

A true urban oasis at Hotel Pulitzer just by Plaça Catalunya

We have to admit, this is a favourite of ours. There is something about vermouth and the atmosphere that gets us every time. They also do the most delicious chicken croquettes, try them! What really makes this place is the ambience. It also helps that when you enter the rooftop, you are met with an almost enchanted-like leafy space, perched upon high for you to have some fun. It really does epitomise an urban oasis. Now the views aren't the best but they more than make up for it with the DJ sets and regular bands that play. See their full listing of events this summer here.

Yurbban

Yurbban Trafalgar Barcelona

Yurbban Trafalgar boasts a breathtaking 360º rooftop views of Barcelona

This fun hotel is part of the Smart Rooms group and prides itself on the slogan 'live as a native'. Given the mass tourism in the city, it is really good to see such hotels making a conscious effort to source local ingredients and assist in immersing curious guests into the culture. Now, to the rooftop. What makes Yurbban Trafalgar special is that its rooftop has a 360º degree view; it is astounding. An Instagrammer's paradise, if you will. There are sun loungers for guests, a bar, and some stools and every so often, they have bands play. They've also opened a second hotel, Yurbban Passage.

Casa Bonay

Casual and inviting beach shack restaurant Chiringuito restaurant at Casa Bonay

Still fairly new to the scene, Casa Bonay is a Catalan go-to place in Eixample that is continuously evolving. When the mega space opened, we had to wait some time before the much-talked-about rooftop was open to the public. It doesn't disappoint. The rooftop hosts Chiringuito, a casual beach shack-style restaurant where barbecue bites under natural basket shades on a green terrace. A long table runs at the back, making it a great option for casual dining with friends. It's equally good for having a 'copa' or two before heading out or even downstairs, where they sometimes host nights at their other space, The Libertine.

La Isabela at Hotel 1898

This hotel is spot on in the city centre, yet manages to stay relatively discreet. Located on Pintor Fortuny in Raval and just off the ever-bustling La Ramblas, the rooftop at Hotel 1898 has one of the most breathtaking views, it's almost like it's just for you. The name of the terrace actually originates from one of the Philippine islands, La Isabela - meaning an oasis and tranquil place. They do have a pool but this is restricted to hotel guests only. Instead, get yourself front-row seats to the splendour of the city, sip on cocktails and tuck into the in-house-made tapas. Reserve or get there early to avoid disappointment.

Skybar at Grand Hotel Central

Skybar at Grand Hotel Central

Stunning views from the SkyBar

If it's all about the view, then the Grand Hotel Central is a must. SkyBar, is by far the most fitting name, as the city skyline view is incredible. Guests staying get to enjoy the infinity pool. You can find a cocktail bar in the terrace lounge area with a cocktail bar and comfortable seating and sun canopies. Barcelona is known for having whimsical skies and sunsets, so treat yourself and get high.

La Terraza del Hotel Ohla Barcelona

Ohla Terraza chill-out with views of the city

Commonly known as the hotel with the eyes, due to the eyes on the neoclassic façade of the building, by artist Frederic Amat. This is another terrace that is central yet hidden. Ohla Barcelona doesn't disappoint, as here you can relax on the luxurious terrace which boasts the most authentic views of the city. What makes this hotel terrace worth a visit is the impressive glass pool. During the day access to the pool is restricted to hotel guests, but from 6 pm anyone can bask in the view and enjoy a glass of Cava, a creative cocktail and tapas.

The ALAIRE Terrace Bar at Hotel Condes

The Alaire terrace at Hotel Condes on Passeig de Gracia with views of the Sagrada Família

We happen to really like the vibe over at The ALAIRE terrace. On the 8th floor, you get an incredible view of La Pedrera and the Sagrada Família. There is something about the decadent lobby area and the glass lifts that give you access to the roof that puts a smile on our faces each time. Its central location makes it an ideal place for after-work activity, and during the week, they have a programme with events which includes live bands.  Either sit on the high stools at the edge of the terrace or relax under the parasols, where you have tables and comfortable chairs for dining or a large party.
