Studio LOHO Opens Jonojé: A Living Design Experience in Bruges

Bruges has long rewarded the curious traveller. The one who wanders past the canal-side crowds and into its quieter, more considered streets. Jonojé, the new B&B from Belgian studio Studio LOHO, is exactly the kind of discovery this city does so well.

Set inside a listed former brush factory on the outskirts of the city, Jonojé is not a hotel in any conventional sense. It functions simultaneously as a B&B, showroom, gallery, photo studio and living space. Guests don’t simply stay somewhere beautiful. They step inside a working creative world.

Studio LOHO was founded in 2017 by Karel Loontiens and Jo Hoeven, and has since built an international reputation for its sculptural approach to interior design. Their breakthrough came with a collection of clay bathtubs, each moulded and fired from a single piece of clay. That same philosophy runs through every corner of Jonojé.

The property spans over 1,000 m², with a director’s residence and a 1,250 m² garden. The six suites, each approximately 75 m², feel less like guest rooms and more like inhabited installations. Organically plastered walls, freestanding ceramic shower cubicles, clay washbasins, cast floors inlaid with graphic motifs made from clay residues, and ceramic switches by Maison Kallis speak to a design language that is deeply material, quietly radical and entirely cohesive. The ROKU suite brings an unexpected warmth through its bamboo-slat structure. Throughout, guests will encounter the studio’s signature ceramic bathtubs — the pieces that first caught the attention of architects and designers across Europe.

What sets Jonojé apart from even the most design-forward boutique property is its insistence on domesticity. Each suite includes a kitchenette, dining table, minibar, coffee maker and kettle. Every morning, breakfast is delivered to the suite: homemade sourdough, whipped butter, cheese, jams and spreads sourced from local artisans. A digital concierge provides personalised routes for exploring the city and its surrounds, and bicycles are available to rent.

We believe in a renewed vision of interior design. “The rooms of a home are no longer purely functional; they become canvases for expression — places of beauty and comfort. From the bathroom to the living areas, every space should flow naturally, creating an environment that is both welcoming and soothing, where form and function meet in harmony.

— Karel Loontiens and Jo Hoeven

At Jonojé, that idea is not a concept statement. It is the experience itself.
