Ocean Drive has landed in Madrid, and we are all for it. If there is one thing that the chain of hotels is famous for is its personality, Ocean Drive Madrid is no exception. Aptly blending with the vibrance of the cosmopolitan Spanish capital, the hotel sits in front of the Opera Palace in Plaza de Isabel II - conveniently placing it within walking distance from Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía.

The hotel has been designed with sustainability considered, with natural elements and textiles used and complemented with advanced and sustainable technology. Ocean Drive Madrid was recognized at the 2019 Re-Think Awards, (official public recognition) as the best project in sustainability and hotel rehabilitation in Spain.

OUR STORY

We travelled here on two occasions. One was for business, while the other was for pleasure, and the hotel was a brilliant match. Even when travelling on business, we quite like a hotel to have a vibe but pockets where you can relax and unwind, should you wish to. This combination makes it easy for colleagues to join for coffee, breakfast meetings or after work, and the hotel lends itself to that perfectly. Behind the reception desk are high tables with outlets to charge devices whilst guests work, and there's also a long table at the back for groups.

Expect a warm and minimalistic contemporary aesthetic throughout the hotel. We loved how bright and airy the rooms are and the nod to design with Eames LCW chairs, Bower & Wilkins speakers, and photo printers. Smaller rooms have well-designed layouts, making the most of each nook, such as a small bench opposite the shower and a folding desk. Suites on the top floor have remarkable features: beer on tap and a library, and one suite even has a private pool.

We made the most of the rooftop pool on a hot summer day, bathed under a blanket of blue sky. It is just the right size, perfect for a handful of people that want to bask in the sun. The view is glorious, with you in a prime position of some of the key spots in the city, and towels and sunbeds are adequately equipped. We made full use of the OD Sky Bar and enjoyed lounging with a glass of vino, while watching people pass by or live their lives on the nearby residential terraces.

Get a flair of Ibiza dining under the funky lights on the ground floor at Mar Mía restaurant, or enjoy the vertical garden on the terrace at the back. In either case, guests can devour the most delicious Mediterranean dishes from the non-stop kitchen. When looking back at our stays, whether for work or pleasure, the space is chic, practical and fun.
