Barcelona’s vibrant Eixample neighbourhood has welcomed a serene new rooftop escape with the opening of Termas Bonay, a wellness concept by the team behind the iconic Casa Bonay. Inspired by the rituals of Northern European saunas but rooted in the Mediterranean’s love of light and nature, this open-air rooftop spa invites guests to slow down and reconnect, surrounded by trees, fragrant plants, and sky.
As boutique stays continue to reimagine what wellness can look like in city settings, Termas Bonay embodies this shift — offering a retreat where stillness, scent, and soft light take centre stage. It’s a concept that echoes the broader trend explored in our feature on Boutique Stays Reimagining Wellness, where design and ritual meet in meaningful ways.
The project was born from the personal vision of Inés Miró Sans, founder of Casa Bonay, whose long-standing interest in holistic therapies, Ayurveda, and movement practices shaped Termas Bonay’s philosophy. Her aim: to bring meaningful wellness into the rhythm of everyday urban life.
This new space invites you to take a barefoot journey across a rooftop garden punctuated by sculptural trees, fragrant herbs, and raw terrazzo mosaics. Developed in collaboration with designers Andreu Carulla and Fernando Martos, Termas Bonay reimagines the city spa as something more immersive and open — a place to forget you’re in the city at all. As more travellers seek deeper connection and self-exploration, this discreet rooftop with its curated facilities and treatments offers a refreshing exploration of global wellness traditions, brought together in one carefully curated rooftop space.
The spa features a dry infrared sauna, Japanese ofuro bath, custom-built hammam, and cold plunge, all designed for urban recuperation. Wellness circuits can be booked individually or privately (up to six people), with optional breathwork or ice bath sessions guided by the in-house team. For deeper restoration, two private treatment cabins offer massages and therapies inspired by Ayurvedic, Eastern, and Western traditions, using natural oils from Rassa Botanicals, exclusively crafted for Casa Bonay.

Whether visiting as a hotel guest or simply seeking stillness above the city, Termas Bonay offers a rare form of urban restoration at ease — a wellness ritual suspended above Barcelona’s daily buzz.
