Postcards from Copenhagen

There is something about Copenhagen that keeps on giving. The Danish capital is renowned for being ultra-trendy, with some of the most spectacular boutique brands and CPFW (Copenhagen Fashion Week) being one of the must-see destinations on the fashion calendar. The chic vibes run into the various boutique hotel offerings scattered around; converted breweries in upcoming neighbourhoods, accommodation in light of vintage furniture and charming villas you'll never want to leave. There is something to suit all. Roskilde Festival, Copenhagen Jazz festival, and 3 Days of Design are just a few of the annual events that attract tourists year in and year out.

The city regularly features in the top spot as one of the happiest countries in the world. We got a slight peak as to why this could be from just a short visit. It's a charming place that instantly makes you feel welcome. A frontrunner for all things sustainability, the city ranked number four in Arcadis Sustainable Cities Index 2022 report. Visitors will see well-maintained parks with facilities and all the essentials for families in many neighbourhoods in the city. These green spaces make it easy for those needing to take a break, kickstart the day with play before musings, or have a picnic in a shady spot. Organic restaurants are abundant, with many providing organic menus for Nordic cuisine and international food. There is a natural focus on supporting local businesses, cycling, and eating local. Regular recognition for ranking as a sustainable place is thanks to its green actions and policies.

Art and design museums, architecture, bikes galore and cobbled streets adjacent to the canals are reminiscent of what is commonly associated with the Danes. Must-see destinations include Tivoli GardensNyhavn, Rosenborg Castle, Christinasborg Palace and the National Museum of Denmark. Then there are the bakeries, and one can't visit without tucking into Danish pastries like the brunsviger and kanelsnurre (cinnamon roll). There are also plenty of coffee spots, making it easy to grab a coffee, perch somewhere, and pass some time. We dare you not to fall in love with the city.
