NEW HOTEL ATHENS

Athen's New Hotel is part of the hotel group YES! This stands for Young, Enthusiastic and Seductive and it doesn't disappoint. It has a provocative approach to interior design and hospitality. The hotel lobby is like no other, bedazzling you upon entry with decorative walls and columns based on reclaimed wood designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana. The award-winning Brazilian brothers were commissioned to transform the space due to their eco-sensitive ethos and the use of contemporary handicraft practices whilst giving a nod to local life and expressions.

New hotel boasts 79-rooms in total and the public spaces that connect throughout encompass elements from the former Olympic Palace Hotel. The interior design really is astounding and a real talking piece that you are living in during your visit. There are pockets of surprises if you look hard enough, such as the keys and handles in the reclaimed wooden structures and art in the lobby and bedroom mirrors. Located on Filellinon Street nº16, the design hotel is within walking distance from the city’s main attractions and plenty of traditional and upcoming bars and restaurants. The Acropolis, for example, is a short stroll from the hotel.

OUR STORY

Guests can choose from six types of rooms at New Hotel: Standard, Superior, Superior Plus, Studios, Junior Suite and for a real treat the newly completed Penthouse Suite. The Penthouse Suite is 65sqm and has bespoke furniture in the bedroom and separate lounge area, while the bathroom is cast entirely of marble. The suite’s terrace offers 360° views of Athens’ historical landmarks, including the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in Athens. What's rather impressive is the use of gold in the rooms, it adds vibrancy and a real avant-garde flair. Not to mention, the creative diamond cut wash-basin in the bathroom and funky geometric shaped drawers. Our superior room was adorned with the 'vaskania' - the evil eye - used to protect people from bad luck. The hotel is breathing art with playful touches, nice design with practicality considered.

The bar-restaurant downstairs, New Taste, serves a daily morning buffet breakfast, lunch and an à la carte dinner. The setting is unforgettable, with the geometric and wooden cladding dining room and hustle and bustle of those getting served. Greek specialities are offered as well, as home-baked bread (including the famous Koulouria bread ring) and delicious pastries are served every day. You can even order a coffee to go before making your way exploring Athens. In the evening guests can enjoy the views from the rooftop and dine in style, with a high-end menu.

Fans of wellbeing can enjoy New Sense, which is the hotel gym and wellness club. There is no expense spared, as even this space is flamboyant with decorative sharp-edged mirrors that are dimly lit with personality. The premises also has a jacuzzi, steam bath and other amenities. Guests can enjoy a spa treatment with products by Yon-Ka and Dermalogica. This luxury is available for guests on a 24-hour basis, in a quiet and calm environment.
