Eco-Friendly Water Bottles: A Must-Have for Sustainable Travel

Today is World Water Day. This year’s theme is Nature for Water, which is very timely given the fact that we have seen some of the worst water-related natural disasters in quite some time. This has left communities without access to basic water. An estimated 1.8 billion people use an unimproved source of drinking water with no protection.

against contamination from human faeces. Pollution, climate change, and man-made environmental damage are contributing to some of the water shortages we’ve been experiencing. As the water sources we use become polluted or degraded, it makes it even harder to get fresh water to people who desperately need it. As part of our Lust Series, we want to share how you can help contribute to causes that work hard to ensure that people affected by such water damage are supported. Here are 3 water bottles to add to your shopping basket.

S’well

S’well was launched in 2010 under the premise to rid the world of plastic water bottles. The company is the partner of UNICEF USA, committing $800,000 since 2015 to help provide clean and safe water to the world’s most vulnerable communities. This year S’well is dedicated to supporting water-related programs across Madagascar. It is here that almost 50% of the population lacks access to clean drinking water. They intend to help by establishing an infrastructure, education and in promoting reforms nationally. Long-term solutions are very much at the forefront of S’well’s contribution.
