If you just go slightly off the beaten track, Barcelona and it’s surroundings still offer many hidden gems. If you’re in the mood for love we are happy to share our top 5 romantic stays with you.

Hotel Neri

I had to include at least one romantic stay in Barcelona, so Hotel Neri is my obvious choice. In the heart of the Barrio Gotico, this small boutique hotel offers exquisite rooms with private balconies and a lush rooftop terrace with a hammock for two in which you can sip cocktails whilst watching the starlit sky. It is a former 18th century palace and overlooks the quaint St Felip Neri Square. The hotel has an intimate restaurant, perfect for special occasions and the rooms are beautifully equipped with restored antique furniture, modern bathrooms and lush linen. Expect complimentary breakfast, excellent service and a dreamy location.

Casa Felix

This villa is situated in the Garraf National park, and has two swimming pools and gorgeous gardens but the highlight is the free-standing bathtub with views of the rolling green hills. The newly restored masia is in the pretty area Olivella, which is just 15 minutes away from the sandy beaches and coastal town Sitges. I can't forget to mention the infinity pool that is in the main garden, pretty much seals the deal as far as bliss is concerned.

Sol I Vida

Their hilltop, the romantic little suite is unique in every detail. Step into another world of olden days and wake up to see Mallorca from your bed. This is beyond a rural retreat, the space is literally out of this world and a wonderful escape, should you need to retire from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. The suite available is shabby chic, with tapestries, patterned rugs, antique lamps and exposed beams and brickwork.

Refugi

Refugi is just my own well kept secret of a place, you can stay for free in Teia, a mountain cabin you book through the city hall. Sounds kind of special right? It is! There is a fireplace inside and a picnic table for warmer days, perfect to eat after strolling the beautiful landscape. Many visit to hike and disconnect and it is one of my go-to places here in Catalunya.

Can Comas

Have this little vineyard all to yourselves, sample wines, stroll among the vines hand in hand. Another feature of the Can Comas estate is a rural house that literally hangs over the Bitlles River. The house is surrounded by a large garden and pine forest typical to this part of the Mediterranean. Visitors to the estate can enjoy a relaxed and intimate view of the vineyard and the day to day workings of the winery.
