OVERVIEW

Nestled in the Buda hills of Budapest, BrodyLand's lovingly restored nineteenth-century villa is packed with historical detail and snugs aplenty. It offers 500 sqm of living space spread over 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 3 reception rooms, and 2 studies styled by the Brody House Group's design team and craftsmen. As a former home to celebrated Dutch author Japan Scholten, The Writer's Villa is sited on the aptly named Muvesz út (Hungarian for Art Street). It was built in 1881 by Baron Szterényi de Brasso, minister of commerce in the Austro- Hungarian Empire, allegedly for his lover... a stunning ballerina. Later, the love nest was enlarged and made into a family house fit for entertainment.

This heritage building is full of historical goodies such as a rare Zsolnay porcelain fountain in the garden, magnificent glasswork by Hungarian master Miksa Roth, Transylvanian marble and parquet floors throughout. Kick back in the steam room or bob away in the jacuzzi before working up an appetite in the pool before tucking into breakfast on the terrace. The fab stained-glass winter garden is ideal for enjoying and/or hosting sumptuous regal dinners.
