We are quite loving the blend of luxury and B&B, which can be said for the cute and welcoming 19th century house converted into a guesthouse. Situated in the fashionable Old Foz, a most sophisticated part of Oporto, you are beachside and tucked away from the tourist trail. A stay at 4Rooms is an architectural delight as the house was remodelled by the Pritzger Award architect Edouardo Souto De Moura. It is sleek but warm, considered but not too much and has affordable modern amenities for you to take full advantage of. The 4Rooms is the first house in Oporto to be classified "Turismo de Habitação" recognising it as a heritage site.
We happened to be greeted by Fabiana and Caterina, who are both friendly, super enthusiastic and armed with lots of knowledge with regards to being very well versed in: local culture, restaurants, transportation and the highlights of design. Caterina actually studies graphic design and is on top of all design driven gems in the city. The house was remodelled by a Pritzger Award architect Edouardo Souto De Moura, and has been done to a very high standard.
Upon arrival at 4Rooms, you are told to make yourself feel at home. The kitchen is open for you to use at your perusal, fresh fruit is readily available and there is often a homemade cake baked daily for you to enjoy before you head out and explore Porto. Rooms are fully equipped with mod cons, satellite TV, iMac seamlessly integrated with the natural materials in the decor of the bedrooms, with the relaxing beige and grey linens and backdrops. We also can't fault the breakfast that was delivered in a cool bento box, as we stayed in the former charcoal house, Sky Loft, across the road from the main building. It's a nice touch that made us smile every morning, and a nice reminder that the team were catering to our every needs.
