Kasbah Bab Ourika
Perched on an escarpment high on the hilltops of the Atlas mountains, is the heavenly Kasbah Bab Ourika. With a superb restaurant, beautiful surroundings and astonishing views, you will be spoilt with 360 degrees of panoramic entertainment and wellbeing. Awarded in 2011 by Fodders Top One Hundred Hotels of the World, it is a privilege to stay in this luxurious and comfortable haven for travellers.
When it came to the kasbah's creation - it was the brainchild of a well-heeled English gent' - the ornate style of so many Marrekech riads, eschewed in favour of a traditional build. Walls were made of rammed earth, floors of natural coloured beijmat and furnishings of Berber fabrics in muted shades of cream, brown and beige. The result is a series of living spaces which feel intimate, deeply restful and brilliantly comfortable. All bedrooms are equipped with floor heating, fine linens and private terraces. Solar panels play a key role in the premises' hot water supply. Kasbah Bab Ourika is aware of the importance for a greener earth, as they participate in a programme established to generate its own electricity and assist the local community providing the necessary tools to help fund local schools and villages. Admirable eco credentials are very appreciative of the surrounding Berber villages, providing each and everyone with a hint of generosity.
The true Moroccan experience is acclaimed with the combination of relaxation and culinary delights here. Eat biological fresh locally-sourced food and take advantage of the nearby horticultural and Saffron farms. For an escape, you can visit the nearby Berber market on Mondays, at the nearby Tnine Ourika. Active individuals would be happy to learn of the hiking, trekking, skiing and riding options of the picturesque mountains. If you miss the hustles and bustles of city life, vibrant Marrakech is a mere 45 minute drive away. A stay at Kasbah Bab Ourika represents a beautiful part of the Maghreb culture.
