Guest House Douro

OVERVIEW

There is something ever-romantic and soothing about a waterfront stay and Guest House Douro in Porto, Portugal offers just that with the Ribeira in full view. All 8 rooms have stunning views of the postcard-perfect Douro River, Dom Luis Bridge or Fonte Taurina. Those staying at the cosy boutique hotel can take full advantage of the central location. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the guesthouse is just a stone's throw away from key attractions, monuments, shops, restaurants and more. It’s also a 10-minute uphill walk to the picturesque azulejo tiled São Bento train station.

All rooms are charming and tastefully decorated and two rooms on the second floor profile the large French windows looking out onto glorious views. As they are located within a historical building they are somewhat small but rich in character. Some have Juliet balconies to look out from, whilst others possess marble bathtubs. Each is equipped with crisp linen, robes and amenities for a welcoming stay. The owners lock the front doors at 1.00am and don’t give the keys to those in the house past this time, to ensure a calm and safe stay. Guests can also partake in local port wine and other snacks and drinks via room service. Delicious continental breakfast including freshly squeezed orange juice, warm baked bread, local jams, cheeses and more is a great way to start the day exploring the beautiful city of Porto.
