Casa do Conto

OVERVIEW

The new hotel design concept of Casa do Conto was actually once a beautiful XIX Century Oporto House. The hotel embodies a unique story of life and history in the city of Oporto. The domestic architecture, solemn and vertical, carved by the scars of time with the memory of the city's past highlights your stay. The granite stone of the old façades remains with new concrete, inner core fused in design elements.

The old house adornment and its wall textures are intact by using traditional surfaces – crossed wood patterns, corrugated steel plates and curved plywood panels – as a “mould” for the new concrete walls: at the central staircase; at the back facade; at the cubic bathrooms inside every suite; at the oval-shaped central skylight, a typical Oporto typology. As a result we get a kind of “fossilised architecture” where those modern “skins” rephrase the pre-existing ones.

Modern amenities are intact here, with free speedy Wi-Fi connections, a flat-screen TV in every bedroom and seating area in all the units. All of the suites come with a balcony and amazing city views. A breakfast buffet is freshly prepared each morning in Casa Do Conto’s dining room or on the patio. There is also a garden with fruit trees and surrounding beauties.

This renovated 19th century gem is located 500 metres from the Casa da Musica Metro Station. The Carolina Michaelis and Lapa Metro Stations are ideally located a 2-minute walk away from this property. ‎
