Underdogs Gallery - Lisbon, Portugal
Underdogs is an international working platform based in Lisbon, Portugal. It aims to create an open space within the contemporary art scene for artists connected to new outlooks of urban-inspired graphics culture, bridging the gap for partnerships and collaborative efforts between creators, cultural agents and exhibitions.
Created in early 2010 and nationally established as of 2013, the Underdogs project stays restless with three areas of works: an art gallery, a public art programme and the production of artist editions. The Underdogs Gallery is an innovative exhibition venue, with 388 sq. metres of venue, interacting visitors with the works of art themselves. Artists and the public come together and socialise during openings without barriers or distinctions.
Guided tours can be reserved as they have a minibus taking a route around the Lisbon creative scene. The Underdog's Public Art Programme promises to impress, with an intimate tour around the lovely city of Lisbon, presenting the mural interventions, techniques and the unique stories behind them.
If this is your style, be sure to visit the Underdogs Art Store in the historical and iconic Mercado da Ribiera. There are limited edition screen prints and exclusive products by over 30 Portuguese and overseas artists. Design studio Pedrita are the brains and brawns behind this space, which has been the spot for hosting several events in the past. Be sure to check out this artistic gem in Lisbon, as it is one of the primary references to the city's urban art culture.
