Restaurant Market - Hotel Market Grupo Andilana

Market Barcelona

Located in the trendy neighborhood of Sant Antoni, Market Restaurant has an elegant and formal factor that gives it the modernist look that it has. We were keen to try this place after we first ate at La Polpa a few months agoanother of Barcelona's great eats from the Grupo Andilana chain. Owing its name to one of the most figurative pieces of architectonic building works in Barcelona, the Sant Antoni Market, we were delighted to learn of another reason to frequent this part of the city.

The restaurant specialises in Catalan cuisine, for starters we had a generous ration of Iberian cured ham with bread and tomato, and a spectacular carpaccio of courgette with pine nuts. We devoured the food with a glass of cava; Juve & Camps Brut Reserve, which has a sweet touch, balance and fruity base of apple. The selection of wine and cava is quite impressive, as there is a fantastic variety to satisfy anyone's taste buds.

For our main dishes we had codfish accompanied with a light garlic and pear mayonnaise and a tomato marmalade sauce as well as smoked octopus over rustic mashed potatoes, paprika and extra virgin olive oil. The smoked octopus was fantastic and we'll definitely be going back just for that! Our overall experience at Restaurant Market was brilliant with a five out of five star dining enjoyment in an amazing space which is in Hotel Market. They also have vermouth afternoons on Sundays, another good excuse to go.

There are many sitting areas of the restaurant-hotel, this one is in a back street away from the city´s eyes to see.
