Nº 197 Chiswick Fire Station - London

Nº197 Chiswick Fire Station

Something independently new opened in April of this year on the west side of London, stemming from the minds behind No. 11 Pimlico Rd in what has been Chiswick's sidelined red brick fire station. The former home of the local fire brigade has maintained its fire station features on the outside, with a hip interior that is closer to what you can find in Los Angeles, California than you perhaps would in London.

Nº197 Chiswick Fire Station has an Australian inspired menu serving from breakfast to brunch, dinner, and snacks in between meals. The ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal, so you can expect the dishes to be exquisite and enjoyable. The ambiance totally rocks at this place as we saw families with kids sitting at long tables, a group of girlfriends chatting it up at the cocktail bar and a lively group of upbeat people in the open air terrace having their best time of the day.

Before we even got to order our drinks first, we were already overhearing individuals in the nearby tables talking about how the savoury dishes are flavourful and the cocktails delish. We ordered a glass of prosecco each and had appetisers to begin with, aubergine and sweet potato croquettes with sun blushed tomato, basil and feta salsa. We followed up with grilled sea bass and chips with pea hummus, watercress and crème fraîche tartar. Steamed mussels mariniere (cream, white wine, garlic & parsley) with fries. For dessert we tried something quite different, raspberry posset with orange blossom and pistachio crumble.

On the list for next time, we must not miss out on much-famed coffee beans from Caravan roaster in London, these experts serve a range of espresso-based coffees using their beans which are roasted in small batches daily, on site in Exmouth market.

Nº197 Chiswick Fire Station is actually the fourth neighbourhood restaurant and bar to be added to the growing Darwin and Wallace which includes No 11 Pimlico Road, Belgravia; No 32 The Old Town in Clapham; and No 1 Duke Street in Richmond. With more projects opening up soon, there is no telling what this independent chain of restaurants can't accomplish.
