Restaurant El Panarra - Hotel Yurbban Trafalgar
Under the claim 'Gentlemen Snacks', restaurant El Panarra in boutique Hotel Yurbban offers customers a menu specialising in gourmet sandwiches. This restaurant enables you to enjoy your food like a Barcelona native, with a varied selection of tasty toasted coca bread rubbed with tomato (pa amb tomaquet) accompanied by a selection of different cheeses and cold meats, mini sausages with sautéed beans and complete Mediterranean salads with a strong selection of regional wines and Cava (sparkling white wine mainly from the Penedès region using similar techniques to champagne).
El Panarra operates under the Km0 concept that has been trending in the city for some time now. This concept refers to the distance food travels from the place of production until they reach the consumer and is a dimension used in the study of ecological footprints in food. The majority of the food is born, bred or raised in the province of Barcelona and brought in daily to the kitchen.
When we walked into El Panarra, we loved the touches of decor from Objeto de Deseo. There is a lot of little treasures to be spotted around the seating area of the restaurant, with intriguing ornaments and delightful objects decorated on the tables. We specifically took admiration in the amount of space and light that the terrace was in the back. The beautiful open space houses design tables and chairs surrounded by natural elements of plants in a pleasant setting.
A glass of vermouth kickstarted our meal, it was aperitif hour after all. For starters we opted for a cheese board that comes with toasted coca bread rubbed with tomato and a beetroot salad with avocado and cottage cheese. Our main dishes consisted of a fried squid sandwich (bocadillo de calamares) with aioli (like a mayonnaise sauce made of garlic, olive oil and egg yolks) and a traditional lobster roll filled with soaked butter and served in a steamed bun. For dessert, we ordered the lemon ice cream with peppermint and a bit of vodka.
Additionally, buffet breakfast is open to the public for 14€. A hearty and local appetite!
