Bugo Art Burgers - First class burgers in Oporto

Bugo Art Burgers in Oporto, Portugal grabbed our attention from the moment we discovered them online on instagram. With lots of positive feedback teamed with us having the need to tuck into a burger, we decided to make our way to the popular arty district to see how good their burgers are. This place is popular, so you will need to reserve well in advance as they tend to get packed with both locals and visitors alike by the dozens!

We had reservation for two at sunset. Upon entering the restaurant with a joint gesture, we were immediately asked if we had reservation. A neat little table by the entrance was already set up for us, in contrast to the long tables with groups occupying the space. The restaurant is shaped in a rectangle with minimal decor festooned with flower pots and arty crafts. In the entrance besides the bar we saw a turntable with a beat machine, which we found quite charming.

This restaurant is the very first burger joint in Oporto, but more importantly it is known for still having the best quality burger meat in town. Best defined as hamburgers with a portuguese twist; as you can try burgers with Azorean cheese or 'Serra' cheese accompanied with a special sauce mixed in port wine for instance. The potatoes accompanying the burgers are a real treat and you can decide how you want them best cooked and served: roasted, rustic or in french fries style. The selection of homemade desserts is well worth saving a bit of space in your tummy for. We shared an apple crumble with ginger ice cream which was above all the icing on the cake, leaving us with the curiosity of maybe trying more dessert next time around.

When the weather is lovely you can sit in the tables outside as it is a pedestrian and tranquil part of the district. We highly recommend Bugo Art Burgers for its service, food and location. There is a fine selection of vegetarian dishes as well, so it caters to everyone.
